Kozhikode to launch special campaign to create public awareness on Covid-19

The district administration on Saturday also decided to launch a special campaign with the help of the health department and local self-government bodies highlighting 10 points that the people need to follow for the effective containment of the Covid-19 even after lockdown relaxation.

KOZHIKODE: The district administration on Saturday also decided to launch a special campaign with the help of the health department and local self-government bodies highlighting 10 points that the people need to follow for the effective containment of the Covid-19 even after lockdown relaxation. The special campaign will be conducted as part of the Covid-19 prevention measures. Health workers and volunteers and ward level jagratha samithi members in the LSGs will visit the houses to create public awareness.The campaign aims to spread the messages on the importance of frequently washing hands with soap or sanitizer, usage of the mask and on the need of maintaining a minimum of 1.5 metre distance when dealing with people. It will also spread the message not to spit in public places, avoid trips and the need for older people, children, pregnant women and sick people to stay indoors. The campaign also says do not touch the eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands, don't throw anything one uses including a mask. It will also highlight the need for eating healthy food and to drink plenty of water and to cover the nose and mouth with a towel while coughing and sneezing.Detailing the campaign, DMO Dr Jayashree said that health workers and local bodies will be trained through videoconferencing. "The campaign would begin only after imparting training at the ward level," said the DMO.
